Are you painting what you see
or what you feel?
Tuesdays, October 6, 20 & 27
1:00 - 3:00 pm
Do your paintings sometimes end up looking more like your reference photo than the experience that inspired you?
Have you ever wished you could bring more of yourself into your paintings without making them look forced, messy, or “too abstract”?
Then this workshop is about learning to do exactly that. We’ll explore how to move beyond simply copying a photograph or subject and begin creating paintings that reflect your memories, feelings, imagination, and personal response.
In “Trying To Get It Right,” you’ll experiment with ways to bring these two together to create work that feels more personal, expressive, and emotionally engaging.
You’ll learn to:
- Let go of the pressure to make every painting “finished.”
- Use unfinished paintings as opportunities for discovery.
- Experiment with marks, shapes, color, and composition without knowing exactly where the painting is going.
- Trust the painting process instead of constantly controlling the outcome.
- Use memory, imagination, and personal experience to transform what you see.
- Begin recognizing what makes a painting uniquely yours.
Sometimes the most interesting thing that can happen in a
painting is what you didn't plan
All mediums and levels of experience are welcome.
